This type specimen consisting of seven unique characters was created to define myself as a designer. Whilst sticking to my bold yet graphically minimal design aesthetic I incorporated elements of my culture into the typeface.
It is laid out on a concertina folded leaflet, so the viewer can interact with the piece whilst elements play with each other in different and unique ways.
The Curious C
Flexible and versatile, the letter C has no independent sound of its own. Within the English language, it is pronounced in various ways, such as ‘S’, ‘K’, ‘Ch’ and in some cases it is silent.
These letters are hidden among the letterform that is somewhat camouflaged into the background entailing the C’s versatile properties.
Some question the need for such a letter. So much so that Benjamin Franklin reportedly wanted to banish C from the alphabet.
